Mondelēz International Makes Friends with Miming

Snacks Company MondelÄ“z International is committed to growing its business by making its products in the right way, with a positive impact on people and the planet. The Company calls it “Sustainable Snacking,” with a vision to help create a future where people and the planet thrive. While sustainable snacking covers many areas of its supply chain, one area that the Company is focusing on is the packaging. MondelÄ“z International commits that by 2025, 100% of its packaging will be designed to be recycled.

Apart from the Company’s actions to create better and less packaging, it also aims to support net-zero waste through improved systems, aiming for a circular pack economy. They believe in education, in shaping recycling habits early on in childhood so that everyone can contribute to reducing waste today and in the future.

With this goal, Mondelēz International has renewed its partnership with the advocacy group Save Philippine Seas (SPS) for educational materials on waste management. This year, the two have collaborated with Miming and Friends, an all-Filipino and homegrown YouTube channel focused on providing valuable lessons to kids through animation and songs.

Continued Partnership with Save Philippine Seas
The first episode of Miming and Friends supported by MondelÄ“z International was released on World Oceans Day on June 8, 2022, and is the first in a series of five. It talks about the importance of segregating waste at home, to ensure they don’t end up in the ocean. SPS serves as consultant and advisor to the Miming episodes on waste collection. Led by Anna Oposa, Executive Director and “Chief Mermaid,” SPS is an organization that aims to empower citizens towards environmental consciousness, leading to collective action and behavior change. In 2021, MondelÄ“z International and SPS released a series of infographics sharing the real reasons behind marine litter, entitled “There’s Plenty of Plastics in the Sea; How did this happen?”

Partnering with Miming and Friends
Miming and Friends, led by Cat-Fish Miming, flying lizard Buboy, and Unicorn Anacorn, join the many friends they meet along the way in learning about the world. Other video topics include values, how to count and sing, and the importance of caring for each other and the environment - all from the multilingual and multicultural perspective of the Filipino experience. The channel is the creation of Miming and Fwends Animation Studios, formed by partners Ramon and Meryll del Prado from Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, “The values we espouse through Miming and Friends very much align with the values of MondelÄ“z International and Save Philippine Seas. We are thrilled about this partnership as it fully synergizes with the greater goal of having responsible children as they grow up to become mindful adults.”

“We are delighted to work with MondelÄ“z International and Miming and Friends for educational videos and songs about caring for our environment, particularly in helping shape waste collection habits early on among children,” adds Oposa. “We support waste collection projects in communities, and we also know that early education plays an important role in empowering everyone to prevent marine litter.”

OH MY GULAY: Camille Prats’ kids love eating veggies?! Here’s how to make your kids love them too!

Have you sat with your kids way past mealtime just to make sure they eat their veggies on the plate? How about resorting to bargaining more gadget time for just one more bite of that carrots? Well, you’re definitely not the only momma doing that. Even celebrities like Camille Prats have to do a bit of negotiating just to get her kids to eat their veggies.

Luckily, she shares some handy hacks with Spot.ph to do the trick without the crying, the bargaining, and the unnecessary drama that fills mealtime.

Here are 3 easy peasy ways to get your kids to eat their veggies according to Camille:

1. Oh My Gulay! May Gulay! – Instead of only serving your kids veggies, partner your kids’ meals with Tang Fruit & Veg. It comes in two flavors: Orange Carrot, which has the Vitamin C from oranges and Vitamin A from carrots, and Dalandan Malunggay, which has the Vitamin C from dalandan and the Iron of malunggay. Tang Fruit & Veg has the delicious taste of fruits AND the nutrition from veggies in a drink that kids love! Camille can vouch for this – her kids love its taste so much, that they actually ask her for it themselves! Yummy na, masustansya pa!

Why Should You Consider Organic Baby Food?

Pexels

Babies are fussy eaters, but that should never bother doting mothers and keep them away from the biggest joys in your life. When looking to provide your baby with the best of everything, ensure that they grow up well and focus on their food. Your regular food is not enough for your baby because they need to grow into healthy and happy toddlers.

When considering the best baby food organic is the way to go. Many dietary experts and pediatricians support organic baby food for many good reasons.

If you are looking to go organic, here are five reasons.

  • Not Genetically Modified
Genetically modified food has been controversial for quite some time. While the long-term side effects have not been revealed, many people are already on the fence about it. When you want to ensure that your baby is getting good nourishment and energy from their food, it is good to stay away from GMOs until research can tell you more.

Organic food comes in handy in this aspect as the fruits and vegetables are guaranteed to be non-GMO. For families who believe their child has been affected, legal support is available to address the harm caused by toxic baby food, helping those impacted seek justice and compensation. It can be ideal to ensure your baby gets the best food possible.

  • Fewer Herbicides and Pesticides
Chemicals are detrimental, whether for an adult or a baby. Your baby is most vulnerable when young, and you have to ensure that nothing can disrupt their growing up.

When you want to ensure that your baby’s hormones are not affected by chemicals in their food, it is best to go organic. Organic baby food contains fewer herbicides and pesticides, so your baby’s health is not compromised.

  • Environmentally Friendly
If you want to be more sustainable or eco-conscious, organic food is optimal. Because the processing time is significantly less, you do not have to worry about how much pollution is caused.

You will find that in most baby food, organic ones come in sustainable packaging that you can either recycle or use again. Organic baby food that comes in glass packaging is most convenient, as you can use the jars for other purposes later on. Many companies also offer discounts on your next purchase if you return the product packaging to them. It can help you save more money as you go.

  • More Flavorful
When looking to give your baby delicious and nutritious food, organic is the right choice to make. Because of the absence of preservatives and artificial flavoring, your baby can taste the fruits and vegetables in the food.

If you want to make your baby love vegetables and fruits, choosing organic food might be the best option. Companies that focus on organic food know the best combinations and best ingredients that will make your baby excited every time mealtime comes around.

  • Fresh From the Farm
With organic food, once the product has been picked from the farm, it will hit the shelves within a few days. Because of no preservatives in the food, they do not have a long shelf life, which means you will have to use them within a few days of being opened.

Conclusion
When you look forward to your baby growing up healthy and being concerned for their well-being, you need to research organic farming. It is the best way to ensure their digestion and health are on track.

Mega Global celebrates 3rd National Sardines Day with successful Mega Bigay Sustansya Program, business updates and first-ever Mega Sardines Piso Sale

As the Philippines marks this year’s National Sardines Day, Mega Global Corporation, the company behind Mega Sardines, the leading sardines brand in the country, honors it through a program that supports undernourished children nationwide, even as it focuses on innovations and expansions that will help drive the company move forward.

Mega Global Celebrates 3rd National Sardines Day
To add more meaning to the National Sardines Day Celebrations, Mega Global showcased its various initiatives that would help elevate not just the Philippines’ sardines industry, but the economy and people’s lives as well, at a roundtable event held on November 23 to kick off the celebration of the holiday on the 24th. Alongside this, it has also shared the successful results of the Mega Bigay Sustansya Program, which was done in partnership with Reach Out Feed Philippines (ROFP), reflecting its deep malasakit for Filipinos.

Marvin Tiu Lim, Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, Chris Fernandez, executives of the Mega Global conglomerate, alongside Dawn Marie Cabigon, founder and director of Reach Out Feed Philippines were present at the event to discuss how the Mega Bigay Sustansya program will bring long-term gains to its program beneficiaries.

Mega Bigay Sustansya (MBS) is a CSR program led by the Mega Tiu Lim Foundation that hopes to give a meal planning and distribution program to over 881 children nationwide. The program has supported children in six provinces nationwide for sixty days. Children ages 4 to 12 have received house-to-house delivery of meals every day that included at least one sardines meal, made using Mega Global’s nutrient-packed high-quality sardine.

“Mega Bigay Sustansya is one way for us to support communities who need us the most. Canned sardines is one of the Filipinos staple foods throughout the years and through this program that target to feed malnourished children all over the country, we hope to use the same staple product to nurture the health of these children and sustain it through leave-behind materials that will help them prepare nutritious meals in the long run,” Marvin Tiu Lim, Chief Growth and Development Officer of Mega Global said.

On top of the updates on Mega Global’s MBS program, Mega Global executives have also shared in the discussion how they strived to continue elevating the sardine industry through innovations and the building of new infrastructures. These expansions would maintain the double-digit growth of the company in 2022, allow it to create a more sustainable avenue in producing its products, as well as create new products that will surely be a hit to its customers.

Host Shawn Yao with Marvin Tiu Lim, Michelle Tiu Lim-Chan, Chris Fernandez, executives of the Mega Global conglomerate, alongside Dawn Marie Cabigon, founder and director of Reach Out Feed Philippines were the speakers for the event, who discussed Mega Global's innovation for its flagship product, sardines, its CSR effort Mega Bigay Sustansya, as well as brand updates, and other pertinent information

For the past 46 years, Mega Global has been leading the way in supporting Filipino communities through its investments in the sardine industry, which has provided job opportunities for thousands of Filipinos. The company continued to upgrade its Zamboanga facility, where its state-of-the-art operations, including its can-making plant and offices, are based. As part of its sustainability endeavors, it is using solar energy for its warehouses.
Mega Global also discussed details about a new plant in Batangas that will be opened next year. Located in Sto. Tomas, Batangas, it will house state-of-the-art technology in manufacturing using sustainable energy sources and is expected to help add dynamism to the economy as it continues to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

Mega SardinaSaya: Game Show Bonanza
On November 24, Mega Global will also be celebrating National Sardines Day with an online game show bonanza. Kicking this off is an Instagram and Facebook challenge that will determine the players for the much-awaited Pera or Sardinas game during the online event which will be broadcast live on Mega Sardines’s Facebook page and Shopee app.

The game show bonanza will have three major segments representing the tagline of Mega Sardines: Sarap, Saya, and Sustansya. For the Sarap segment, Mega Sardines’ ambassadress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo will do a cooking demo that will serve as an introduction to new dishes that mommies can easily create for their loved ones.

For the Sustansya segment, the audience can learn about the Mega Bigay Sustansya program, the company’s nationwide feeding program being undertaken in communities around the country with the help of its partner, Reach Out Philippines Foundation.

Lastly, there will be a series of virtual games for the Saya segment where fun games such as Pera or Sardinas, Call A Ka-Mega, and Trivia Game will be available for the audience to participate in. There will also be a grand raffle, where they have the chance to take home a wide selection of prizes.

For added fun, Mega Sardines is launching a Tiktok Challenge where participants can show off their moves and have some fun in the process of creating videos to win prizes. Mega Sardines is also holding an eye-popping Piso sale in Shopee for Mega Sardines in Tomato Sauce, Tomato Sauce with Chili Added, Corned Sardines, and Mega Fried Sardines in Tausi--definitely a sale that will have customers rushing to add to the cart!

Get ready to join and have fun on National Sardines Day with Mega Global! Check out Mega Sardines’s Facebook page for more information.

In-Store Robotic Displays: How FMCG Brands Launched The Most Disruptive Innovation in Trade Marketing During This Pandemic

Brands have depended on the same-old in-store marketing and visual merchandising to enhance engagement and sales strategies for decades: cardboards, shelf stoppers, sampling initiatives, and price discounts.

So, naturally, there is a strong desire for upgrading the shopping experience within physical stores, as customer behavior changes at a rapid pace.

Then enter the pandemic and everything about what we know was thrown under the bus!

Consumers only visited groceries that follow appropriate health safety protocols, decreased their shopping time, and prioritized only the essential categories.

Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands faced obstacles in trade marketing, such as how to announce brand promotional offers and perform activations inside the store.

So, given how shoppers refuse to engage with human promoters due to Covid risks and some stores banning promoters altogether, we offered the In-Store Robotic Display (RD).

Enter Youthopia's Robotic Display Solution
Youthopia's robotic display solution is the ideal program for brands to achieve their goals specifically in driving awareness and trial for newly introduced products to the market – may it be new flavors, new scents, or new variants, and ultimately conversion for new products.

Youthopia pioneered Tokinomo here in the Philippines, a shelf advertising robotic display that highlights products and allows for a completely new sort of brand communication at the point of sale.

One that has never been seen before!

The interactive approach used by Tokinomo is disruptive, memorable, and effective. Tokinomo creates things that talk, dance, move, or sing to market themselves! Imagine a robot advertising superstar!

Besides winning the trust of top FMCG brands all over the world, Tokinomo Robotic Display has won several international awards for being the best retail innovation and digital POP display solution.

The Holy Grail of In-store Marketing in this Dark Age
It was out of the question that the In-Store Robotic Display would cause market disruption, and since it will be the first in the Philippines, brands are more optimistic that it will result in growth for the participating brand.

The RD is simple to install inside the store and is affordable! And to prove this, more and more brands have tried it, counting Alaska Creamy Evap, Alaska Powdered Milk, Alaska Condensed Milk, Kellogg’s Choco Magic, Similac Gain School, Similac Tummy Care, UFC Soup, UFC Gravy, UFC Fun Chow, Wow Sarap and Locally as its early users.

Robotic Displays for FMCG brands
The supermarket aisles had grown silent the past year or so, as the country goes through a series of lockdowns.

This development is an opportunity for FMCG brands to set themselves apart from the competition through innovative solutions such as Robotic Displays. As a matter of fact, FMCG brands around the world are already using Robotic Displays with outstanding results in terms of shopper engagement, and sales.

In this time of pandemic where safety is the most important consideration of doing brand activations, the RD program will serve the purpose of human promoters.

And we are here to see it for more years to come.

A Fresh Start for Fruitas and Taal

Leading food and beverage kiosk operator, Fruitas Holdings, Inc. (FHI), listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange under the symbol FRUIT, has donated Php100,000 cash and Php100,000 worth of goods including water and juices to the municipality of Taal. The residents of Taal were affected by the major ashfall brought about the Taal volcano eruption.

“It has been always our mission to give back to the community and help our countrymen in times of need” said FHI President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lester Yu. “Since our listing on the PSE, we are more empowered to provide meaningful service to Filipinos” he added.

The mayor of the heritage town of Taal, Hon. Pong Mercado, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Fruitas for generously contributing towards the repair of rehabilitation of the community.

Fruitas had also donated 200 boxes of Fruitas bottled water last January 14 and 15 for the displaced individuals and families from the volcanic disaster. Bottled water was disseminated through the help of ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya and GMA Kapuso Foundation, the company’s partners for this endeavour.

These latest initiatives form part of the Touched by Fruitas program, which also community feeding, scholarship grants, basketball clinics, and local community support. The growth of the company has enhanced its ability to extend service and give back to Filipinos.

The Tastiest Ways To Get More Protein Into Your Diet

It's vital that we get more protein into our diet. We have to remember that whether we're trying to get stronger or maintain our physique getting enough protein is crucial. The recommended daily intake is 50 grams per day but there are researchers that say you should be eating more than that. But when we're trying to eat healthier and focus more on vegetables and greenery, we may not necessarily get enough protein into our diet. There is still some protein in vegetables but you've got to make sure you're getting enough in other ways. And besides, we need to make it tasty! What are the best ways to do this?

Add Eggs To Everything

Even if you don't like an egg as it is, it is a vital ingredient to meals like pancakes. In fact, this homemade pancake recipe can be altered to add a scoop of whey protein. Many people are now putting whey protein into their pancakes to fill them up so they don't feast on carbs. Adding eggs to everything isn't just a great way to get protein; it's full of choline and B vitamins. When in doubt, get some eggs! They're also very diverse. You can make little egg cups in the oven to eat while you are on the go.

Have You Tried Matcha Green Tea?

Matcha green tea powder has been enjoyed for generations in some parts of the world, and now its popularity is spreading globally, as people begin to realise the health benefits it offers. Literally meaning ‘powdered tea’, the main difference between Matcha and other green teas is that the whole leaf is consumed, making it a much more potent nutrient source than green tea that is steeped.

The Production Of Matcha Green Tea Powder
Like all types of teas, Matcha green tea comes from a woody shrub native to southern China, which is a relative of the Camellia plant. The regional location of the plant, the plant variety, and the processing method used all determine the resulting type of tea. Matcha preparation entails using a cloth to cover the tea plants before they are harvested. The shade triggers leaf growth with enhanced flavour and texture.

Do You Fall Into #MalnutritionTraps?

The country has been facing a rise in the number of underweight and overweight Filipinos for more than 20 years. The World Health Organization (WHO) defined this phenomenon as the “Double Burden of Malnutrition” or the “prevalence of both undernutrition and overweight in the same community, nation, or region.”

To address this problem, our government launched the Pinggang Pinoy® campaign in 2014. Pinggang Pinoy® is an easy-to-understand food guide showing proper food group portioning on a per-meal basis. This reflects the principles of MOderation, VAriety, and BAlance (MOVABA) to promote healthier eating habits.

Solving the Philippines’ Double Burden of Malnutrition should be a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors as it is not an easy feat. With this, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation partnered with government agencies to conduct education programs to raise awareness and promote the practice of Pinggang Pinoy® in malnutrition hotspots, where incidences of Double Burden Malnutrition are high. This training was given to homemakers/mothers who have malnourished (underweight, stunting, wasting, overweight and obese) school-aged children.

The pilot run resulted in improvements in the knowledge & attitudes of households related to the practice of Pinggang Pinoy® within target areas. However, behavior changes towards healthier eating habits remain to be a challenge. The program uncovered a number #MalnutritionTraps that some Pinoy households easily fall into. The following #MalnutritionTraps provide a picture of how unhealthy eating habits may lead to Double Burden of Malnutrition:

Last December 13, 2018 at Mall of Asia Music Hall, Del Monte Spaghetti Sauces treated families for the second time to an excitingly different spaghetti experience by sampling all five of their delicious spaghetti sauce flavors in their Del Monte “Spag Sarap Squad Headquarters” – Carbonara, Italian, Sweet, Filipino, and their newest flavor, Creamy and Cheesy.

4 Hacks to Stay Healthy and Fit during Christmas

The holiday season is just around the corner, and that means stuffing our faces with all the guilty pleasures served to us in giant servings. Let’s face it, Christmas is the season for eating—and maybe a bit of booze.

Still, it’s important to remember the reason for the season and of course, taking care of yourself throughout so you can live more and do more out of your day.

No need to wait for the new year to make a resolution. Below are some things to keep in mind while celebrating this Christmas so you can be fit and healthy during the festivity.

Know your Alcohol Limit

Christmas parties are all about celebration and memories but, make sure you’re sane enough to recall these things. Drinking moderately allows you not only to live in the moment but also to be kind to your body.

There’s no need to abuse yourself with alcohol. As they say, “May bukas pa!” so, knowing when to call it a night will surely have your head filled with grateful thoughts in the morning.

However, if you do find yourself having overindulged in alcohol, one way you can speed up your recovery is banana bag IV therapy. During this specialized therapy, fluid packed full of essential minerals and vitamins is directly into your bloodstream to effectively combat the effects of excessive alcohol consumption. By bypassing the digestive system, IV therapies can speed up hangover recovery to ensure that you miss no moment of the Christmas festivities.

Eating Right During Pregancy

When I was pregnant, I was feeling a lot of mixed emotions. I was extremely happy with the thought of bringing a new life into this world, but also awfully worried for my baby’s health and safety while inside my tummy.

Since the very beginning of my pregnancy, my doctor strongly advised me to focus on proper nutrition and eat in moderation. I just could not eat whatever food I crave for, neither could I fill my belly with snacks high in sugar and sodium.

I made sure I consume a lot of fruits and veggies. Luckily, I learned that I could get a nutrition boost from potatoes, one of my favorite veggies! This was amazing because I love potatoes, which meant I could still enjoy eating them while I was pregnant.

Why Kids Love Kinder Joy

It’s not surprising that every kid knows about Kinder Joy, because kids love chocolate and toys. My son Mikael, who is a “special kid,” is beyond happy when he gets one. He loves the packaging and gets curious about what toys are in each and every egg.

Kids Will Always Be Kids
Kids are naturally curious, and the packaging of Kinder Joy feeds on that curiosity. It’s always a surprise: what toy will they find inside the egg? The chocolate adds to the delight of opening it.
Simple joy comes in small packages!
We all know that this sweet treat is for our kids, whose eyes brighten with every opening of a Kinder Joy. They’re always happy to receive this egg-shaped surprise!
As a mom, I always want products that are safe for my children, so I appreciate the fact that the Kinder Joy treats—two delicious creams (milky cream and cocoa cream) with two crispy wafer balls—are made with high-quality ingredients.
Kinder Joy is available in your nearest supermarkets and convenience stores. I'm sure you’ve also experienced how your kid puts Kinder Joy in your shopping basket when you are in the grocery store, right?

Give your kid a slice of happiness by buying them some Kinder Joy! In this way, you’re able to bond with them after school or during the weekend, instead of them playing online games on their gadgets.
