Summer is well and truly here and now that the kids have broken up, it’s time to start thinking about how you want them to spend their time off. Although you may already have lots of fun activities planned for them to take part in, it’s important you’re also thinking about how you can encourage their creative side whilst they’re not at school. Whilst they don’t need to spend their summer break learning, they do need to keep those creative juices flowing. With that in mind, here are 4 creative activities to try with your kids this summer:

  • Get Creative With Arts And Crafts

One of the best ways to encourage your children to be creative this summer is to get them to do some arts and crafts. Whether they’re making their own windmills for the garden or crafting a basket out of woven paper, there are so many summer-themed crafts to choose from. With most craft shops selling affordable materials, you can be sure you don’t have to break the bank to get a little artistic the summer break. • Encourage Them To Put On A Play

Although most people think creativity is limited to arts and crafts, there are lots of different ways for your children to explore their creative side. One of the best ways, of course, is for them to put on a play for you and your friends. Whether they put on their favorite play or they make their own one up, they will love how creative it allows them to be.

  • Think Of All Of The Different Ways You Can Paint
One of the most common creative activities for children to do is painting, especially if you have space for them to spread out and let the creativity run wild. Although they will love painting their own pictures, you might want to consider what other things they can paint too. Whether it’s doing classic paint by numbers or painting some plain pottery, there are lots of ways to get creative with a paintbrush.

If you are going to be encouraging them to paint as often as they can, you might want to invest in some kids aprons and clothing that you do not mind getting damaged. Kids are creative, but they’re also very messy too.

  • Get Them To Customise Their Own Clothes
Finally, if you want your children to create something they can keep for years to come, why not encourage them to customize some of their own clothes? If you buy a couple of affordable plain t-shirts, they can do whatever they want to make that piece of clothing their own. Whether it’s creating a tie-dye effect or using markers to draw a pattern, they will be able to create something they’re proud of.
