Stress Management Tips For Busy Parents

You probably don’t need this blog to tell you that being a parent is hard. From getting to grips with their sleep patterns and getting up for midnight feeds to deciding what first car to buy them (that won’t wreck the household budget), parenthood presents a wealth of challenge from the moment they’re born to the moment they leave the nest. Of course, we’re always more than happy to rise to those challenges. Our love for our kids eclipses all. Yet, no matter how zealously we might want to be the best parents that we can possibly be, we also need to take the time to look after ourselves. After all, how else can we be there for our kids and watch them grow up and have kids of their own?



Managing your duties as a parent (as well as the duties of the workplace) can be enormously stressful. And while a little stress can be good for us, chronic stress can be devastating to our health. It can even increase our risk of fatal chronic diseases. As such, we need to be able to tale the time to manage our stress. But if you find that there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to take a yoga class, hit the gym or try any of the other things your time-rich peers use to alleviate stress, here are some tips for busy parents who never have enough hours in the day...


Spend time in nature wherever and whenever you can
Modern living seems designed to make us stress. We’re surrounded by screens, bombarded by adverts and have to shoulder barge our way through crowds of people as we navigate our way through life. And that’s especially stressful when the breath of strangers can be a real hazard to our health. Make sure you take time to spend in nature wherever you can. Time spent among trees, plants, birds and animals is a proven stress-buster. What’s more, walking barefoot in the ground can have a number of surprising health benefits including reduced stress.


Embrace the power of plants

Even if you don’t have time to get out and be among plants, you can certainly benefit from bringing them into your home. Plants oxygenate your living space, purify their air and imbue your home with a wonderful sense of calm. Something that stressed parents really need. But bringing plants into your home in other ways can relieve stress. Take CBD inhalers for example. This hemp extract is known to help alleviate stress, anxiety and depression. Eating leafy greens and seeds can also help to alleviate stress.


Try mindfulness meditation

Only have 5 minutes to spare before the kids wake up or after putting them to bed? That’s not enough for a yoga / gym session. But it’s just enough time for some mindfulness meditation. Just 5 minutes a day can alleviate stress, improve awareness and focus and keep anxiety and sadness at bay.


Never forget the healing power of a hug
